Chicken Pakora Indian Style

Pakora is very popular and common fried snack in South Asia. In India and Pakistan there are many Pakora recipes that are commonly prepared. There are many kind of pakora snack like onion pakora, vegetable pakora, spinach pakora, egg pakora, cheese pakora, potato pakora, paneer pakora, fish pakora and many more verities of pakora are available in South Asia. Pakora is very spicy snack. you can serve pakora hot with tamarind chutney, mint chutney and tea. Below is my Chicken Pakora recipe, which is very simple to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg chicken (cut into very small pieces)
  • 2 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 2 large thinly chopped onions
  • 8-10 small green chilies
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp gram masala powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp chat masala powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method

Stir the flour, chili powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl. Pour in sufficient water to make a thick batter and beat well until smooth. Leave to stand for at least 15-20 minutes.

Boil chicken pieces until done. Now add garlic paste, cumin powder, chaat masala powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, grated ginger, salt, gram masala powder, black pepper powder, pomegranate seeds and cook for 10-12 minutes on a low flame. Until chicken gravy is totally dry. Remove from heat and keep set aside.

Now add chicken masala gravy into chickpea flour mixture. Add coriander leaves and  thinly chopped onions to chicken chickpea mixture and mix well.

Heat oil in a wok, deep fry chicken pakora on high heat till golden brown then fry on low heat till crispy.

Remove to kitchen paper to remove execs oil. Tasty and crispy Chicken pakora is ready to serve. Serve hot with tamarind chutney, mint chutney and tomato ketchup.
